Many Many Years ago I had two water turtles. I do not know if they where a male and a female but once I found eggs in the water. I used to keep them in two basins, one with water and one with Soil interconnected with each other. Unfortunately I know I was not keeping them in the best of conditions since at that time I had no filters etc and relied only on an occasional water change. I remember I used to feet them beef heart and they laid eggs after around 12 years I had them but I am sure yours are at the right age. Do you know if you have a pair ?

... sorry i am not an experienced freshwater turtle breeder, however I do know that it's not a simple procedure

just a very little help I can provide is that my australian relatives, who bred them (in ponds though!) ... used to refer to this book http://www.breedingturtles.com/pdf/Freshwater_turtles_&_terrapins_Demo.pdf ... maybe you can find it and buy it ... should prove to be helpful and as the name says "the complete guide"

Hi guys wanted to share this with you.

A friend of mine found a big water turtle moving around in his garden. He lives on a farm, with surrounding fields, so it was obvious that this tulle had escaped from somewhere. He decide to dig up a small pond and filled it with water, and the turtle spent the day there, sometimes it would come out for a walk and go back in the water. Well a couple of weeks ago one of his cats had a miscarriage and gave birth to a dead kitten.  It is amazing the tulle saw it or smelled it, came out of the water picked it up and dragged it back to the water to eat.

The thing is we have not seem the turtle since, so we do not know if it has died or is hiding somewhere cool away from the sun.

I know turtles are carnivorous but to come out of the water and drag back the dead kitten was amazing.
